It's all in the eyes...

Yorkshire Photographer - Eyes...

If a picture is worth a thousand words then in the world of portraiture I am sure that it is the eyes that make up at least nine-hundred of those words. Even before I was a photographer taking photos of people I had a strong attraction to peoples eyes. Not only the aesthetic beauty of them but also their ability to convey emotion. If you stop and really look at someones eyes you soon realise that no eye is the same. There are striking patterns and unique textures exhibited in every persons iris. You soon realise that saying 'I have blue eyes' is a gross over simplification. Our eyes are in fact a miniature canvas full of numerous colours.

Although I love capturing the multitude of colours and textures in peoples eyes I get more of a thrill from capturing the emotion in them. I find that the eyes are capable of transmitting a depth of emotion that no other feature of someones face can. The look in someones eye can tell a story but it can also make the viewer think about the subject and even allow a connection. I find this type of relationship between a photograph and the viewer truly fascinating.

I believe it is this type of connection that allows my wedding photography to help couples remember and re-live their big day for years to come.
